Robin's Biography

Robin PhillipsRobin’s spirit, education, training and life experience make her an uncommon teacher. Her major for her undergraduate BA degree was life-long developmental psychology. Her life-training began in earnest by becoming a mother of four and working as a small business owner of an infant-toddler center. Later, she became a credentialed faculty member of a not-for-profit school focusing on special needs children. She remained at the school for19 years, ultimately becoming a Deputy Head of School while continuing as an active faculty member.

In1993 Robin took Reiki I and II degrees and began her Reiki practice. In 1995 she received her Reiki Master’s degree and added teaching Reiki to an increasingly busy private practice. She also attained a ministerial degree.

While studying Reiki, she began daily meditation practice taught by Sogyal Rinpoche as well as a year-long course in Counseling and Interpersonal Skills at University of California, Irvine (UCI) where she excelled. After receiving her certificate from UCI, in 1994, she entered the four year training to become a Feldenkrais Practitioner®. Robin was writing poetry and had two poems published, “Grey Rain” and “Book Report”. Next, she began exploring the works of G.I. Gurdjieff and C. Jung while also studying the Enneagram personality system. Courses in cranial-sacral and somato-emotional techniques further refined and developed her knowledge and somatic skills. Reading, teaching as well as learning are passions for Robin. Through reading she has explored many ideas and ideals which include articles and books in transpersonal psychology, shamanism, Buddhist psychology and comparative religion. Robin was invited to sit satsang with a number of western masters and acquired a basic vocabulary of consciousness. At one of these sessions she asked herself this question: What do all of these authors, teachers, and modalities have in common? The answer came many months later while learning about Constellations.

A friend suggested she attend a workshop called Systemic Family Constellations which could shed some understanding on recent events in Robin’s family. When the connections between the current generation and events in the ancestors past were made explicit, the dynamics in her family system relaxed, became clearer and less tangled. Gradually, Robin learned the lesson of vitality and true relationship. She also learned the answer to her question: everyone and everything belongs and has a good place. She trained to facilitate constellations both privately and in groups.

Over the years Robin has seen some organizations and agencies thrive, some fail, some struggle endlessly to attain success that just eludes their grasp. Her curious mind and lively spirit wonder what makes, breaks or keeps organizations stuck. Constellations applied to businesses and organizations may demonstrate hidden dynamics that affect their outcome. She has also witnessed the difficulties individuals have with pain, diagnoses, intimacy and relationship as well as success and financial concerns.

Robin’s education and experience make her uniquely qualified to uncover the relationships between the past and the present and between communication and functional organization. Her caring and skillful insight often allows her to find a solution to an elusive problem or situation. She works slowly and gently with precision to bring to light only that which is ready to leave the shadows.

She continues to pursue her poetry and education, holding dear all of her clients and loving her family, including all of her ancestors.
